When the first Parish Meeting to elect councilors was held on December 4th 1894, there was obviously a strong nonconformist feeling that the new era should be marked by a new chairman. 1951:- News Paper Cutting; Yaxham's oldest inhabitant Mr. Jimmy Fellows celebrated his 95th birthday..... Seventy something years ago Jimmy Fellows ordered a suit from a tailor named Horne of Mattishall. The word utility had not yet attached itself to suits, but its dictionary sense of usefulness was not unfamiliar to Mr. Horne. He set out to make a useful suit and succeeded so well that the waistcoat and trousers are still being used by his customer today. He remembered paying, either £3 or £3, 15s for it, a suit of stout black cloth. The tailor who made the suit for Jimmy Fellows died only recently. He was Mr. Horne of Mattishall.
NOTE:- This news paper cutting was actually referring to George's son Frederick Charles Horne. The cutting was dated 1951 and 70 years back from that would have made Frederick 6 years old. So the suit in question is more likely to have been bought from George Horne who was the main tailor in Mattishall at that time.
